The Kick Off VIP event will be held Thursday evening, September 4th at Stefek's Auctioneers & Appraisers when we'll enjoy a jewelry auction that will benefit Services for Older Citizens from 7-9pm. Friday evening we'll celebrate our cross-town rivalry at the Grosse Pointe North vs. Grosse Pointe South football game. The VIP Tailgate Tastefest will preceed the game from 5-7pm at Grosse Pointe North High School campus. Partial proceeds of the tailgate will benefit The Grosse Pointe Foundation for Public Education. The Michigan Sports Hall of Fame movable museum will be on the North campus for sport fans delight! Be sure to take time to view the beautiful exhibit. Also Friday evening Grosse Pointe Artists Association is hosting the opening reception of "The Word as Image" at the Grosse Pointe Arts Center 15001 Kercheval in the Park begining at 6:30pm.
Join us Saturday when all of the Pointes will be involved in VIP! The Business and Professional Association of Mack Avenue along with The Hill Association are hosting sidewalk sales plus The Village Association members will be hosting in-store events including special pricing and trunk shows.
Look for the big tent where multiple Chamber of Commerce members have planned a fun event at Mack/Moran! Free food and drinks from 10am until noon will be provided. They have also coordinated children's activities including games, raffles, face painting and tattos! Everyone's favoriteGrosse Pointe police dog Riley will be there as well as the State Farm "Good Neigh-Bear". Participants are Flagstar Bank, Grosse Pointe Animal Adoption, Eastside Tennis and Fitness, Ed Lazar State Farm Insurance, Stefek's Auctioneers and Bolton Johnston Realtors.
Saturday at 9am West Park Farmers Market opens for business along with many Park businesses providing special activities.
Edsel and Eleanor Ford House, 1100 Lake Shore Road in Grosse Pointe Shores, is hosting "Football Fun" from Noon until 2:00pm. In addition to fun games and Roary the Lion, the Ford House estate will also be the site to view The Michigan Sport Hall of Fame movable museum. Tour the mobile museum and learn interesting Michigan sports facts and see fabulous sports artifacts.
Join us at Northern Trust Bank Building, 120 Kercheval, Saturday at 7PM for the Let's Crow Party. Select scarecrows will be on display for auction by Joseph DuMouchell Auctioneer. The People's Choice Award voting will occur at this event! If you would like to enter the Scarecrow Contest please give us a call. Harvest food, spirits and entertainment by the Barley Boys jug band will all add to a memorable evening. Reservations for this fun party can be made at The Chamber 313.881.4722. The Michigan Sports Hall of Fame mobile museum will be at Muir and Kercheval from 4pm until 9pm for the enjoyment of all sports fans.
Sunday the Grosse Pointe Board of Realtors will be holding 150+ Open Houses for homes for sale from 2-4pm. For additional information regarding the VIP homes open please refer to www.gpbr.com. Everyone is encouraged to attend " GO LOCAL Grosse Pointe" a Community Cornucopia sponsored by The Soroptomists at Grosse Pointe War Memorial from Noon until 5pm.
The City of Grosse Pointe Woods will dedicate the Historic Plaque for Cook School at 20025 Mack Plaza Drive on Sunday at 2:00pm. The Ribbon Cutting Ceremony will follow. Tours and refreshments will be served beginning at 3:00pm. The Sun Messengers will be at City Hall for a community picnic from 3:00 - 6:00pm. All are welcome and can either bring your own picnic or purchase from food vendors.
